Ethan is in third grade this year. Ethan loves art. He enjoys drawing dragons and is very good at making them look "realistic"! It is his new favorite word. I am the art docent in his class this year and he is so happy about that. Ethan has received the math masters award for excellent math skills. He has been awarded two "Hornet Hoorays" for his behavior and participation in class. Ethan is now enjoying reading since his discovery of the Deltora series by Emily Rodda. Ethan is enjoying scouts except for the fact that he has to leave the house to go there. He is our home body and would rather be home than anywhere else but he usually has a good time once we get him out.
Emma is in second grade this year. She is rarely seen without a book in her hands. She is enjoying the Magic Tree House series and wants to read every one of them. She finishes two per day usually. I try and get to the library at least once a week for some extra books for her to read but I can rarely keep up with her pace. Emma received the Pencil of Power award at her school for her writing. I am told she makes the teacher laugh on a daily basis. Emma received two Hornet Hoorays for having a good attitude and positive behavior. Emma has an impeccable memory and retells personal stories in her writing with great detail. She is an amazing writer and has a teacher who will really help her built this talent. Emma is still our sweet peacemaker (most of the time... she is reading this over my shoulder and says "not always").
Lily is a KINDERGARTNER! It seems like this was a long time coming since she has been talking and so social for such a long time. Her teacher has been so impressed with her knowledge and behavior. Lily is a rule follower at school and is very intent on doing "exactly" what she is told. Lily loves to read (she is still learning but doing great)! She has a drawer in the kitchen with all her books and she loves pulling them out and reading them to Nolan and Jayci. She also enjoys being Jayci's preschool teacher once she gets home from kindergarten. Lily is following in her big brothers footsteps and is a blossoming artist. Ethan has even given her some art lessons to help her perfect her drawings. She is so super funny and makes us laugh every day.
Jayci is not in a formal preschool but we have set up an area in the play room just for her. She has a weather chart, ABC, numbers, and color chart, and an easel/chalk board. She loves to learn. Jayci is a sponge! She knows her phone number, how to spell and write her name, all her ABCs, can count to 20... and no I am not trying to brag. I just want her to have this information for herself when she is older and wants to look back on what kind of little girl she was. Jayci likes to play rough. She picks fights with Ethan so that he will wrestle with her. She likes me to grab her shirt and yell "who do you work for"... not sure how this started but it is one of her favorite games. Jayci is a tough little girl. Jayci is at that age (3 1/2) of inbetween. Not quite a toddler but not totally a "big girl". She loves playdates now and always wants to have a friend over. She loves Nolan but he is not really ready for her toughness. Jayci has a great laugh that makes me smile everytime I hear it.
Noley Poley, NoMan, Rockin Rollin Nolan! Nolan is now 8 months old and he can do lots of tricks. First and most importantly... HE SAYS MAMA!!!! woot woot! He has on more than once occasion looked at me and said, "Mmmmaaammmaa" Yep that's right! I love it. the other day Joey was trying to get him to say Daddda. He looked at Joey and said Mamma. Better luck next month Joey! Nolan is crawling all over the place, standing up on anything that stays still long enough for him to get to his feet, and eating anything and everything in his path. Jayci has taught Nolan to climb the stairs. We are working on going down now. Nolan had a little roll down the stairs already (he was fine and it was not on my watch however falling off the changing table was on my watch.. sorry Nolan) and so now he won't attempt to go down without help which is good. Nolan laughs all the time. He thinks so many things are funny. He loves mini tootsie pops (yes I do let him have one once in awhile... he is my fifth kid afterall). He is still a good natured baby and easy to take places.
