May 6th!!!!

Ethan turned nine and being the ever easy going kids that he is he decided instead of a big party he would like to take a friend to the movies. So Dad, Ethan, his friend Malachi and all the sisters went to see Rio. I packed a candy bag for them and they had a blast.
Ethan really learned a valuable lesson this year. Sometimes things are just more important than your birthday.
Joey's uncle Kory passed away a few days before Ethan's birthday. We had to change plans around a bit so we could make it down to the funeral in Vancouver. Ethan had a little bit of a hard time understanding why we had to go on his birthday. After a few talks and promises that we would still have a little celebration I think he finally agreed that being there for our loved ones was more important than birthday plans.
Kory was one out of ten kids on Joey's Dad's side. He was a fun guy and great to be around. We will miss him and the kids are so sweet to still keep him in their prayers (along with Jaron and Grandma and Grandpa Kilborn). Lily always prays that, "they will have fun in Heaven."

We did end up getting a cake and singing to Ethan at Great Granpa Scrivens' house. Mike and Lisa spoiled Ethan with some fun gifts and that really boosted his spirits. They are so good to our kids and really know how to make them feel special and loved.
